What You Will Be Doing
- Responsible for specifying, designing, and developing low-power wireless control systems, including radio communication for battery-powered devices
- Duties include gathering customer requirements, identifying solutions, and creating technical specifications, cost-effective designs, and test plans that address testability, manufacturability, cost analysis, circuit design, and prototype implementation
- Lead RF Systems Engineer responsibilities involve simulating, testing, and evaluating prototype communication systems, integrating them with infrastructure, cloud systems, and device firmware
- Clearly communicate with engineering management on design approaches, project timelines, quality improvements, and cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure product development meets schedule, budget, quality, and performance standards
- Development activities include design, prototype testing, design reviews, applying lessons from existing products, and producing thorough documentation and reports
- Maintain organized project records and documentation
- Periodic travel within the US and internationally may be required
What You Will Need
- M.S. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with a focus on signals, communications, or RF design,
- 9+ years of experience in electronic design engineering within high-volume consumer product environments
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing wireless, battery-powered IoT devices and their communication networks
- Expertise in firmware, RF circuitry, and antenna design for wireless networks, including silicon and SDR radios, digital modulation, spread spectrum, and encryption
- Proficient in all phases of printed circuit board design, from schematic capture to layout, fabrication, and assembly
- Skilled in designing circuit board layouts for EMC/EMI compliance and high-frequency techniques like RF grounding, microstrip, and waveguides
- Experienced in creating predictive models for communication systems and testing to verify performance
- Competent in testing wireless communication functions for stability, compliance, and manufacturability
- Capable of defining and implementing test plans for electronic designs, covering validation and production testing
- Energetic, eager to learn, troubleshoot, and continuously improve, with an interest in the irrigation industry
- Proven track record of increasing responsibilities and achieving results through innovative problem-solving
- Strong lab skills, able to prototype, test, and validate designs using RF test tools
- Excellent debugging skills with high-density, surface-mount designs
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability and Testability, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment and experienced in sourcing and qualifying new components and vendors
