What You Will Be Doing

  • Valuable contributor to a diverse engineering team, focusing on systems thinking, SOLID principles, coding standards, and testing.
  • Assume complete end-to-end technical and engineering responsibility for one or more applications.
  • Lead the translation of complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
  • Define solutions in terms of components, modules, and algorithms.
  • Develop and implement the proposed solutions.
  • Refactor existing solutions to enhance reusability and scalability.
  • Lead or support discussions on applying existing or new technology to meet business needs.
  • Generate design documents, code, and unit/functional tests, as well as improvements, modifications, and fixes to existing code.
  • Justify and defend design decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for further improvements and refinements to standards, processes, and systems.
  • Emphasize creative thinking, coding for future needs rather than current requirements.

 

What You Will Need

  • 5-7 years of experience or 3-5 years with a BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Science
  • Extensive Agile team experience.
  • Proficient in Java/J2EE, Spring, Nodejs/Typescript, and/or Python for design and coding.
  • Strong familiarity and use of Git and Jira.
  • Practical experience with REST/API web services.
  • Proficiency in modern Agile Software Development practices.
  • Familiarity with database technologies like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server.
  • Experience with Microservices architecture.
  • Skilled in writing tests (Unit, Integration, Load, End-to-End) using Java/JavaScript testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with dependency frameworks such as Maven, NPM, etc.
  • Knowledge of AWS Services including S3, EC2, Cognito, SMS/SQS, CloudWatch, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve critical issues in complex systems within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational abilities.
  • Capable of writing technical design and build documentation for all aspects of a technical infrastructure.
  • Good interpersonal and facilitation skills.

 

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with React, Angular, Vue, or other UI frameworks.
  • Familiarity with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with streaming/messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, and SNS.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like Redis, ElastiCache, and MongoDB.
