What You Will Be Doing

  • Establish communications systems by programming voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment
  • Plan network installations by studying technical specifications and preparing an installation schematic
  • Inventory and prioritize telco network and equipment repairs
  • Establish telco networks by programming features, establishing interfaces and integrations, following industry standards, and activating remote access tools
  • Verify service by testing and re-programming circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying and correcting problems, and conferring with engineers
  • Document telco network by recording configuration diagrams and programming
  • Analyze telco network performance and prepares and presents reports based on that analysis
  • Maintain telco network by troubleshooting and repairing outages, testing network backup procedures, and updating documentation
  • Maintain customer rapport by listening and answering questions and resolving concerns in a timely manner
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following standards and policies
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications


What You Will Need

  • Associates degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 – 4 years of experience working in telecommunications, network management, or a related role
  • Extensive expertise in current technologies like VOIP, PBX, and Pots Lines.
  • Proficient understanding of Verizon HIPC systems, WebEx Telco systems, Verizon Support Portals, and Maas360 MDM is highly beneficial.
  • In-depth knowledge of communication equipment performance, systems, services, and transmission media.
  • Comprehensive grasp of fundamental electronics theory and principles, application of current and upcoming technologies to communication needs, equipment interoperability and compatibility, and techniques for acquiring equipment, systems, and services for information transfer.
  • Familiarity with public utility and customer responsibilities related to customer premise equipment (telephone exchanges, switches, etc.), copper cable connectivity, internal and external building cabling, PBX software, underground conduits, and microwave radio systems for bypassing obstacles.
  • Understanding of building codes and standards for planning installations and connections.
