Sr. Staff Software Engineer (Rust & AI) – 4624

Job Title: Senior Staff Software Engineer (Rust & AI)

Role Overview
A fast-growing data and analytics technology company is building a next-generation AI-powered analytics platform that helps global brands understand consumer behavior and advertising performance at massive scale. The organization combines large-scale data infrastructure with advanced machine learning to deliver real-time insights that power smarter decision-making.

This role sits at the center of a highly strategic initiative to build a new AI-native analytics engine from the ground up. You will work closely with executive engineering leadership and a team of highly skilled engineers to architect and build an advanced data platform that combines high-performance analytics infrastructure with agentic AI capabilities. The work involves designing systems capable of processing large-scale marketing and behavioral datasets with extremely low latency while enabling intelligent systems to autonomously explore data and generate insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build a high-performance analytics engine featuring columnar storage, vectorized query execution, and OLAP-style analytical capabilities
  • Design and develop an agentic AI framework that leverages the analytics engine to autonomously explore datasets and generate insight
  • Build scalable systems capable of processing large marketing and behavioral datasets with sub-second performance
  • Partner with product, engineering, and data teams to deliver AI-driven analytics capabilities that surface actionable insights automatically
  • Profile, benchmark, and optimize system components for maximum throughput and low latency
  • Architect and deploy scalable analytics infrastructure in a cloud environment
  • Drive architectural direction across the broader data platform ecosystem
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product and data engineering teams to integrate analytics capabilities across multiple products
  • Mentor engineers and promote best practices in performance engineering, distributed systems design, and scalable architecture
  • Contribute to internal frameworks or open-source projects related to analytics systems and distributed computation

Education & Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 5+ years designing or building large-scale data platforms, analytics engines, or distributed data systems
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing in Rust in a production environment
  • Strong expertise with both Rust and Java, ideally with experience transitioning high-performance systems from Java to Rust
  • Deep experience building large-scale OLAP or analytics systems from scratch
  • Strong understanding of columnar data engines, vectorized execution, and query optimization techniques
  • Hands-on experience with performance engineering, system profiling, and hardware-aware optimization
  • Expertise designing and operating large-scale data and compute systems in AWS
  • Strong understanding of statistics, data analysis concepts, and analytical workloads

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with AI-driven analytics platforms or autonomous data exploration systems
  • Familiarity with open-source analytical engines such as DuckDB, Apache DataFusion, ClickHouse, or similar technologies
  • Experience modernizing or refactoring large legacy systems
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects related to distributed systems or data infrastructure
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth technology environments

Why Us:

  • Opportunity to build a next-generation AI-native analytics platform from the ground up
  • Highly strategic engineering initiative with direct exposure to executive leadership
  • Work on technically challenging problems at the intersection of AI, distributed systems, and large-scale analytics
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and data infrastructure specialists
  • Build systems designed to operate at massive data scale and extremely high performance
  • Strong engineering culture focused on innovation, technical depth, and measurable impact

Benefits and Perks:

  • 100% employer-covered medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees
  • Competitive dependent healthcare coverage
  • Equity participation through stock options
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Paid parental leave
  • Disability and life insurance coverage
  • Flexible hybrid work environment
  • Catered meals and stocked office kitchen
  • Team offsites and company social events
  • Commuter benefits and health FSAs
  • Employee counseling and wellness services
